Best Sports Betting Sites in Ontario 2025

The BetBrothers Story

  • BetBrothers began with two brothers who share a love for betting. They’re both into sports, but their styles couldn’t be more different. One plays it safe, thinking things through before placing a bet. The other follows his instincts, always ready to take a risk. They often joke about each other’s picks and rarely agree, but they’ve both realized something important. There’s no single way to bet. Everyone has to figure out what works best for them.

That’s how this site came to life. It’s made for people who enjoy betting and want solid tips, honest reviews, and useful insights to help them make better choices. We’re not here to guarantee wins. But we do believe you can enjoy betting more, make smarter decisions, and maybe stretch your money a little further. We like to keep things simple, add a touch of humor when it fits, and always do things with a bit of character. Because in the end, someone wins and someone loses. That’s just how betting works, just like any other risk in life. And that’s the story behind BetBrothers.

How we rate and review Ontario betting sites?

We take our reviews seriously, and a lot of effort goes into making the comparisons as consistent as possible, testing the same variables to the same standards. This way you get to make the most informed decisions when it comes to picking a betting site that is right for you. The main things that we take into account are:

Betting Markets and Odds

The odds are crucial because this is in effect the same as something's price. When you buy something the cheaper the better, so it is when you bet the higher the odds the better. The odds are what will determine if you make a profit or not in the long run. Also we look at the betting markets a site offers because there is no point having a betting account if you are unable to place the bets that you want to.

888sport is a betting site that consistently provides more betting options than their rivals. The exact number will vary from sport to sport, and obviously major finals and matches in the top leagues will have more options than games in the lower divisions or niche sports. As an example of what you can expect at 888sport though, during our research we found they had over 130 different betting markets on a Champions League Soccer game, with very few rivals managing much more than 100.

Security and Trustworthiness

The security, trustworthiness, and reliability of a betting site is of crucial importance when evaluating an online bookmaker. element when evaluating bookmakers. Every betting site that you will find at BetBrothers has the latest SSL protocol, is licenced in Ontario, and will have received good feedback from the general gambling community.

Bonuses and Promotions

Everyone likes to be rewarded, and betting sites use various bonuses and promotions to do just that. The most eye catching bonuses are the Welcome bonuses, which are designed to attract new players to join a site. We analyse the size and quality of these, as well as looking at what is on offer to existing players as well.

Mobile & sport betting apps

In todays world there is very little that can not be done on a smartphone, and that includes betting. We take into account the mobile versions of each betting site as well as the main desktop version and special credit is given when a site has a dedicated mobile app.

By far the most downloaded betting app in Canada is Bet365, which has been downloaded over 125k times and has the joint top rating score of 4.7 (Out of 5). Betway are level also being on 4.7 from just over 62k different ratings. There is then a massive drop in the number of downloads and ratings recorded in the app store, but BetVictor deserve a mention also scoring 4.7 (from 2.3k reviews).

Payment Methods

There is not a lot of point having an account at a betting site if you are unable to fund it. Having a wide range of payment methods available, with fast transaction times and flexible limits is what we look for. The wider range of options that they have the better.

The best bookmakers offer 9 or 10 different payment methods, but from our research there is not any one site that has everything. Sports Interaction have the most that we have found though, with options including credit cards, bank transfers, interac, Amex and Apple Pay. (Note that although crypto currencies can be used at betting sites in Canada they can NOT in the province of Ontario)

Customer Support

Obviously you hope to never need them, but when you do require assistance then you really do need them to be there for you. We look at the available contact methods, the opening times, and the quality of the support that is received.

Best New Betting Sites in Ontario April 2025

New betting sites are coming to the market all the time, they often have the latest features and attention grabbing bonuses in order to stand out from the crowd. The best five new betting sites to have launched in Ontario are:

Types of sports bets offered on Ontario betting sites

Gone are the days when you could only bet on who would win the game or match that was going to take place. Today there are literally hundreds of different bets that can be placed, and we will explain some of the most common that you will come across below:

  • Moneyline: The Moneyline is just another way of saying what the result will be. It is as simple as that, you can bet on which team will be the winner or if it will be a draw. This betting market can also sometimes be called the “match odds” or the “1x2” market.
  • Point spread: A point spread is not to be confused with “spread betting” which is very different. A point spread is basically a handicap bet, and you are wagering that a team will win by over a certain number of points. The number of points advantage given is called the “spread”. It can be either a positive or negative number depending on whether you are betting on the favourite or the underdog.
  • Over/Under (totals): The over/under bet is as the name suggests a bet on whether the total number of points scored at the end of the game will be over or under a certain number. The number that is chosen will vary from match to match in most cases, or there will be multiple totals for you to choose from. They normally include a .5 goals, to make sure that there is no chance of a push.
  • Live betting: Live betting, also known as “in-play” betting has been around for a while now and it means that you can place bets on a game that has already started. It has become popular due to the fact you can make a judgement based on what is actually happening on the field, and it is arguably more exciting due to the quick turnaround between placing a bet and getting your winnings.
  • Parlays: A parlay is similar to an accumulator bet in that you are wagering on more than one thing happening, the difference with a parlay is that all the things you bet on happen in the same match. For example you may bet on a team to win and also the game end with over a certain number of points scored.
  • Prop bets: Prop bets is shorthand for “proposition” bets, and they are basically a bet on whether or not an individual player will or will not do something. It could be for example if they will be the first player to score, or will they receive a yellow card, or what will their total passing yards be.
  • Futures: Futures are bets that are usually on who will win a league or a tournament, rather than betting on an individual match. These markets can also be called “outright” bets. The reason for the name is due to the fact that the tournaments usually end quite far in the “future” from the time the bets are placed.

Which Canadian sports teams can you bet on?

In short, you can bet on all of them. If the team is playing in a professional capacity in any of the major leagues or cups then all of the bookmakers will offer odds on their matches. The main teams that you can bet on by sports are:

NHLNBAMLBMLS
Toronto Maple LeafsToronto RaptorsToronto Blue JaysToronto FC
Montreal CanadiansVancouver Whitecaps
Vancouver CanucksCF Montréal
Edmonton Oilers
Calgary Flames
Ottawa Senators
Winnipeg Jets
  • Ice Hockey - The Toronto Maple Leafs are the most valuable team today, they played in the inaugural NHL Season (under the name The Toronto Arenas) and have played in every season ever since. You can place bets on them to win the league again or on each of their individual matches, where handicaps and totals bets will also be available.
  • Basketball - The Toronto Raptors compete in the NBA as part of the Eastern Conference. You can place bets on all of their games, including bets on player props, total points, and handicap markets.
  • Baseball - The Blue Jays compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) East Division. You can bet on moneyline, run line, and total runs, and often more.
  • Soccer - There are many Canadian soccer teams to bet on in various different leagues, but the main three all play in the MLS (Major League Soccer). The main teams are CF Montreal, Toronto FC, and the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Where can you bet on sports in Ontario?

There are many online sportsbooks that have a licence to accept bets from Ontario residents. BetBrothers is a reliable source of information when it comes to providing independent sportsbook reviews. We have delivered the results of our research at the top of this article, and give our opinion on who are the best Ontario online sports betting sites in 2025. There is no one “best” site for everyone so read the reviews carefully and use them to find the one that sounds suitable for you.

Blacklist of sportsbooks in 2025

Not all sportsbooks are regulated and licenced and so you should be careful and do your due diligence before registering. Avoid unlicenced betting sites because your personal data may not be secure, and they may not have fair software. In the worst case scenario they may just refuse to pay you and there would be nothing that you could do.

FAQ. Frequently Asked Questions
  • The majority of betting sites that Ontario players can bet at have markets on many different Esports. Some of the best we have listed at the top of this page.

  • The short answer is yes. As long as you play at a licenced betting site and follow standard security protocols in terms of your password then everything should be fine.

  • Yes PayPal can be used at Ontario betting sites provided they have a licence to offer gambling services in the province from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission (AGCO).

  • There are many very good sports betting apps available and it is hard to say which is the “best” because it will probably be different for each person depending on what they are looking for.

  • If you are a recreational bettor who gets lucky and makes some profits then no you do not. If you are a professional gambler who makes money consistently as a form of income then you do. Consult a tax advisor if you are unsure which category you fall into.

  • The final say on all bets is with yourself, and so it will depend on what you want to do. Usually moneyline bets have higher odds on the underdog and lower odds on the favourite, whereas “the spread” will involve a handicap that evens things out.

  • Although it will vary depending on the time of the year and when the sport traditionally has its season, as a rule of thumb soccer (also known as football) is the most popular sport to bet on globally.
